If you haven’t seen the short video behind the recent “Google doodle” recognizing former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s birthday yet (he would have been 65 this week), check it out here:
In my mind, Mercury ranks as one of the all-time great songwriters and entertainers. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to see Queen perform live in the ’80s (well after they “went disco” – sadly I missed out on the rockingest part of their career) and I remember well when Freddie Mercury announced he had AIDS – and then died the very next day. May he rest in peace, while we enjoy the legacy he left behind.
And if you haven’t heard about the movie being planned on Freddie Mercury’s life, you’ll be interested to know that the role of Mercury will be played by…Sascha Baron Cohen!
