The idea for this project came from a blog post, “How to Photograph Strangers.” I had recently moved from Namibia – a country of 2 million people, where amazing landscapes and animals make photography easy if you’ve got a long lens – to India, with its 1.2 billion people, many of them crowded into cities several times the size of Namibia’s population.  The long lens is packed away, and suddenly I need a short lens for “street photography.”
But street photography can be unnerving. Â How do you walk up to a stranger in a strange country and ask them if you can shoot their portrait?
That’s the point of this project. Â If you do this 100 times, you’ll get better at it.
And you’ll meet a bunch of interesting people, hopefully.
