{"id":2152,"date":"2013-09-28T17:30:38","date_gmt":"2013-09-28T16:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?page_id=2152"},"modified":"2017-07-22T19:39:45","modified_gmt":"2017-07-22T18:39:45","slug":"found-film","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?page_id=2152","title":{"rendered":"Found Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things I enjoy doing is developing pictures that someone took long ago, and at some point, lost track of and forgot to develop. \u00a0Years later, it was found, wound its way into my hands, and was developed. \u00a0Saving these photos from oblivion is like a moral obligation!<\/p>\n<p>In all seriousness, the farther you go back, the more seriously people took an individual photo. \u00a0When you had to shell out cash for every roll of 8 photos, you didn&#8217;t just snap away like we do nowadays. \u00a0So there&#8217;s no telling what might be uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a chronology of &#8220;found film&#8221; From a roll of 127 film with square 4 x 4 photos depicting what appears to have been a family fishing trip that spanned the generations. \u00a0Nice catch, Grandpa!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Day at the Beach by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/9248850463\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/9248850463_1f47785c00_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Day at the Beach\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=1767\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day at the Beach<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0It looks like \u201cJohnny\u201d and \u201cSusie\u201d dressed up in their Sunday Best that day and took a ride in their 1960 Pontiac out to a beach with a long pier and what appear to be seashells. \u00a0We don\u2019t know how old the car was at the time, but judging from the snappy hat and clashing shirt \u201cPops\u201d is wearing, I\u2019d say the care was pretty new at the time \u2013 which would make these photographs over 50 years old. \u00a0See anyone you recognize?<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Found Film 4 by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/9279671719\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/9279671719_e57e903a6f_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Found Film 4\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=1672\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cowboy Outfit<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Remember those little plastic rolls from the 70s and 80s? \u00a0This is an odd collection of photos &#8211; the family dog, a bunch of gravestones, and a family working outside (digging? \u00a0it&#8217;s all somewhat morbid&#8230;). \u00a0Not the oldest roll of found film, and the first I developed in color.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Found Film: Trip to Vegas by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/10517129296\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/10517129296_b21b4d878b_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Found Film: Trip to Vegas\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trip to Vegas<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; and &#8220;My Puppy&#8221;<\/a> &#8211; Two completely unrelated rolls of film in the same blog post &#8211; one is an old roll of 620 size Kodacolor-X that was damaged in the development process, wherein we can make out a series of posed family back yard shots. \u00a0The other is a roll of Fotomat brand 110 film that appears to be from the &#8217;70s. \u00a0It&#8217;s all pretty murky, but we can make out photos of a boy and his puppy. \u00a0I loved that dawg&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Caroling? by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/10856571923\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/10856571923_7eb8d8f083_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Caroling?\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2419\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Singing Family<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0This roll supposedly originated in South Carolina, but we have a clue that took me awhile to decode \u2013 there\u2019s a college sweatshirt that reads \u201cKutztown State.\u201d \u00a0That\u2019s what Kutztown University of Pennsylvania was called between 1960 and 1983. \u00a0Other than that, I am unable to date or locate the film.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/DSC07377ed2.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2277 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/DSC07377ed2.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC07377ed2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/DSC07377ed2.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/DSC07377ed2.jpg?resize=600%2C605&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/DSC07377ed2.jpg?w=2000&amp;ssl=1 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Improvising a Lightbox to View Dark Negatives (Found Film)<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; This roll came out so dark it wouldn&#8217;t scan properly. \u00a0So I made a lightbox out of a Coca-Cola box, and shared how I did it so you can too. \u00a0Still, the photos themselves held no great revelations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Family by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/10996626454\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/10996626454_7e4fc6837a_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Family\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2460\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from Fort Wayne, Indiana<\/a> &#8211; a set of badly fogged film from Fort Wayne, from a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye manufactured in the 1950s. You can make out some of the people on the photos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Birthday Two by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/11117448075\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/11117448075_1a8b1eb405_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Birthday Two\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Holy Toledo! It&#8217;s an Ansco Anscoflex!<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; this was an interesting case; only a couple of pictures. \u00a0Yet, from the clues in the photos, we came\u00a0<em>this close<\/em> to possibly identifying who was in the photo. \u00a0The Toledo Blade could have possibly helped, but I was unable to pique their curiosity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Guy with Cigar in the Garden by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/11354479223\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/11354479223_274486c98e_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Guy with Cigar in the Garden\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?page_id=3436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Set of 3: \u00a0Bill&#8217;s Photos<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; No idea who Bill is &#8211; the owner, or the subject of the photos. \u00a0This is\u00a0a set of three rolls, all marked with the name &#8220;Bill.&#8221; \u00a0The first roll has photos of a\u00a0happy guy, and photos from a wedding. \u00a0The second two\u00a0contain photos of a woman with two children watching as a man opens a gift, and the same man looking out a window. \u00a0The man is possibly suffering from some sort of physical handicap.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Found film: trip to Germany by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/11872831895\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/11872831895_022cb4c7b8_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Found film: trip to Germany\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trip to Germany<\/a> &#8211; a whole roll of 35mm film that seems to revolve around a trip to Germany. \u00a0Military shots, equipment, a bus, and a glider (that&#8217;s still in service!) suggest this may have been a US Air Force person touring Germany with colleagues, or former colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Found Film: Clyde, Texas by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/11897481423\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/11897481423_0b7d44ba19_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Found Film: Clyde, Texas\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2535\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clyde, Texas<\/a>\u00a0 These ladies appear to have gathered with what looks like a bunch of gifts, in what I&#8217;m told is either the Lions Club, or &#8220;the old fellowship hall next to the First Baptist Church&#8221; in Clyde, Texas. \u00a0The film was inside a Brownie Starflash, so most likely from the 1960s. \u00a0The ladies never got to see this picture. \u00a0But I bet it was a fun day.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Found Film: Syracuse Airman by TAZMPictures, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/12118863346\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/12118863346_9db5a1d668_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Found Film: Syracuse Airman\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=2559\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an Airman in Syracuse<\/a>\u00a0Roll of photos from what appears to be a reg&#8217;lar, working-class family in America during the 1950s or 1960s. \u00a0Here&#8217;s one of the bunch now &#8211; he&#8217;s recently enlisted in the Air Force! A roll of film that was shot and then placed back into its box &#8211; which has a June 1958 expiration date printed on it &#8211; and was then forgotten forever. \u00a0Various images of a swimming hole and different family members posed in front of a country home and old cars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Cowboys by Tom Brouns, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/15102006369\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/flickr-migration\/15102006369_a60a3b3893_q.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Cowboys\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=3254\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cowboys and RVs<\/a> &#8211; A roll of Kodak Verichrome Pan, likely taken as recently as the early 1980s, somewhere &#8220;out West&#8221;, where cowboys can still occasionally be seen riding into the sunset.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/img01square.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/img01square.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"img01square\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=3280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Only Briefly Misplaced<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0This roll, it turns out, was only &#8220;lost&#8221;
