That’s right, on a Sony Playstation Portable. Killing time at various airports, trains, on the beach, and during the kids’ sports practices, and using the game Beaterator<\/a>, I’ve composed and recorded a full-length album. I’ve stopped short of designing cover art until the Grammy nomination arrives in the mail.\u00a0 You can try this out for yourself on their website’s flash application.<\/a><\/p>\n

Use this music as you like – Creative Commons (attribution-sharealike). <\/a>Where I borrowed snippets of known melodies, I’m not the expert on copyright – I’m claiming “fair use” in that I created a new work.<\/p>\n

1 – Prologue<\/a> – short flute bit that was originally part of track 2.\u00a0 Theme repeats elsewhere.<\/p>\n

2 – Parabolic<\/a> – slow beat with guitar flourishes that gradually becomes more electronic.\u00a0 I like how it builds in the end.<\/p>\n

3 – Ring Of Fear<\/a> – 120bpm, a bit techno, incorporates “Ring of Fire” and other tunes.<\/p>\n

4 – Steppe It Up<\/a> – Started out a bit central Asian but ended up a bit silly.\u00a0 Incorporates various melodies.<\/p>\n

5 – Flying To Kandahar<\/a> – Kind of funky, actually wrote this while flying to Kandahar.\u00a0 Try that on a C130.<\/p>\n

6 – The Matador<\/a> – Tried to make this a bit Spanish sounding.\u00a0 But with a techno beat.<\/p>\n

7 – Funky Bricks<\/a> – Yes, the riffs from “Brick House” and “Play that Funky Music” do fit together, in case anyone was wondering.\u00a0 With a few others thrown in.<\/p>\n

8 – Coastal Wind<\/a> – Starts out reminding me of the “Prince of Bel-Air” theme.\u00a0 Mellow, but builds.<\/p>\n

9 – Ulf Attack<\/a> – A bit of a Middle-Eastern sound.\u00a0 Average speed.<\/p>\n

10 – Fiddler On Crack<\/a> – What happens when you mix “Fiddler on the Roof” with Beaterator?<\/p>\n

11 – Desert Attack<\/a> – Reminds me a bit of the music for an action film set in one of those “Indiana Jones” settings.\u00a0 Alternates between mellow and intense.<\/p>\n

12 – Nomad<\/a> – Again, a bit of a Middle Eastern flute-techno thing.\u00a0 I like this one.\u00a0 I think it would sound good with proper instruments.<\/p>\n

13 – Scuba Steve Blues<\/a> – Started out with some sounds and a basic beat, and ended up with blues.\u00a0 Don’t know what Scuba Steve has to do with it, except I like Adam Sandler movies.<\/p>\n

14 – Dubai<\/a> – This picks up the prologue again to round everything out.\u00a0 Strong beat, and kinds of mixes together elements from all the pieces above.\u00a0 Written during a flight delay in – guess where?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
