photo at a tourist attraction or monument\/memorial in Washington are ridiculously low, but it&#8217;s fun to try and see what you can accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/washington.org\/DC-guide-to\/vietnam-veterans-memorial\" target=\"_blank\">Vietnam Veterans&#8217; Memorial<\/a> is one of my favorite places to visit in Washington. \u00a0Compared to the other old buildings and monuments in Washington that recall ancient (for the U.S.) history, the Vietnam Veterans&#8217; Memorial is a <em>living<\/em> monument. \u00a0Besides memorializing a war that happened during many of our lifetimes, it is constantly changing, with the mementoes being left behind behind by these visitors making its recency much more palpable.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wall\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/25727892644\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/25727892644_a157ffb2a7_z.jpg?resize=640%2C424&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Wall\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Memorial\u00a0was quite controversial around the time of its design and construction, with its black stone (from Bangalore, India!) and unconventional design. \u00a0The Memorial includes two other pieces, the Three Servicemen and the Women&#8217;s Memorial, which are placed close enough to interact but not so close as to distract from the design of the black wall.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Carnation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/26059873500\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/26059873500_2b58904730_z.jpg?resize=425%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Carnation\" width=\"425\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Red Carnation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tazmpictures\/26266514381\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/26266514381_e95f7efa86_z.jpg?resize=425%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Red Carnation\" width=\"425\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I went to photograph the Memorial early in the morning &#8211;
