{"id":483,"date":"2011-03-03T19:03:39","date_gmt":"2011-03-03T18:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=483"},"modified":"2025-05-17T18:12:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-17T17:12:56","slug":"autotuning-everything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tazmpictures.com\/site\/?p=483","title":{"rendered":"Autotuning Everything"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A recent phenomenon (and an unfortunate one, in my opinion) to hit the music industry is the use of Auto-Tuning software to correct pitch.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antarestech.com\/products\/auto-tune-evo.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">For just a few hundred bucks, you can get a plug-in<\/a> for your audio editing software that will insure every slightly off-pitch note is automatically brought into perfect tune (corrected to the nearest note).&nbsp; Apparently many more professional musicians than you&#8217;d expect &#8211; even those who rarely have &#8220;tuning&#8221; issues, have jumped on the autotune bandwagon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where it gets interesting is where you can use the software to make radical shifts in pitch.&nbsp; While this has been used within certain genres to create a certain &#8220;sound&#8221; (think Kanye West), the YouTube community has been having a great deal of fun with it.&nbsp; One of the best-known (as far as I know) is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/schmoyoho\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube user schmoyoho<\/a> AKA the Gregory Brothers AKA &#8220;Autotune the News&#8221;, whose manipulation of news footage became the &#8220;Bed Intruder&#8221; video and R&amp;B hit.&nbsp; And now we&#8217;re even seeing ruthless dictators as targets of autotune musicians, such as Moammar Gadhafi in this song\/video by Israeli musician Noy Alooshe, called &#8220;Zenga Zenga&#8221;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Muammar Gaddafi - Zenga Zenga Song - Noy Alooshe Remix\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cBY-0n4esNY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I think the possibilities for creativity and just plain mischievous fun are endless.&nbsp; I&#8217;d like to give this a try myself, but can&#8217;t bring myself to shell out $300 for the plug-in, plus the cash for the editing software, knowing that I might be overwhelmed by all the whistles and bells that need to be manipulated.&nbsp; I&#8217;d be curious if anyone out there has worked with it and can share their experiences for this novice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent phenomenon (and an unfortunate one, in my opinion) to hit the music industry is the use of Auto-Tuning software to correct pitch.
