Stranger number three spoke virtually no English, but he saw my camera and insisted on having his photo taken. ย We don’t know his name, but he lives in the semi-informal community along the canal in R.A. Puram, Chennai. ย With any luck, I’ll bring him a copy of his portrait and learn his name at that time.
Which is going to be a new goal for this project – try and get every participant a copy of their portrait.
UPDATE: I stopped by to deliver prints to “stranger number 3” and he wasn’t home. The neighbors found his wife, who appeared a bit perplexed when I handed her a picture of her husband (and one of 4 kids that included her son) – but in the end everyone seemed very pleased. We handed out about a dozen prints throughout the neighborhood, meaning it may be tougher to go there in the future, as everyone will want a photo taken!
