“Stranger No. 33” provided the most hilarious experience in this project to date. ย We were walking past a series of small shops, when I spotted this young man quietly reading a paper in front of a small book shop. ย I stopped for a moment and looked back at him, and nervously asked if he’d mind me taking a photo. ย That’s when the fun began.
First, he jumped up and deliberately stared off over my right shoulder, and I snapped the photo above (with a film camera). Then he asked me to photograph him from the side, yielding the photo below.
I thanked him for his time and started on my way. “Wait,” he said, and took off his jacket, then his cap, shook his hair, and then replaced his cap. He insisted I take a few more “artsy” shots.
Then he wanted to have a photo taken with the both of us, and proceeded to “set up the shot”:
Here’s what we ended up with. And by the way, his name is Shaiq Hussaini…aka “Stranger No. 33”.
