This is Yusury. I took his picture with an old film camera, the light is not that great and I only got a single shot because I was unsure how to read the situation. This is in a small village on the banks of the Kinabantangan River in Borneo, Malaysia. Yusury is a boatmaker – he makes these tiny boats out of plywood that zip along on the surface of the river with one person inside. They’re designed to skim on the surface of the water. I wish I had taken photos of him working on a boat. As it was, I only managed to sneak another shot later on before we left.
